Abstract

CAMI Automotive Inc. was an outstanding example of successful economic and community development achieved through business recruitment. Ingersoll was a small town in Ontario where industrial and residential development were thoroughly prepared over the years along with the availability of large vacant land, rail service, and water system. Upon the arrival of CAMI Automotive Inc., there were several feedbacks regarding emerging issues such as infrastructure improvements, road extension, financing plans, and additional industrial sites. Also, the cost of housing in the area substantially increased which impacted other regions around the county as well. Regardless of the few revisions that had to be made, CAMI Automotive Inc. was deemed to have positive effects on Ingersoll on both the economic and community level.
