Abstract

Ontario has capitalized on the benefits of attracting business from the Film and Television industry to increase productivity and economic growth. Ontario and Vancouver have been successful in attracting foreign production companies to their city, making them the major centres for production. This article analyzes how Canada's investment into the Film and Television industry will bring about major economic growth by providing diversity in locations, proximity to the two major production centers and cost effectiveness of shooting in a specific jurisdiction. Ontario is leading towards great economic production opportunities.

Author Biography

Sarah Anson-Cartwright

Sarah Anson-Cartwright joined the Ontario Film Development Corporation as the Senior Policy Analyst in 1992. For over four years previous to that, she was the special reports editor at Playback, the trade journal  for the Canadian production and broadcast industries, and the editor of Canada on Location and Playback International, two trade magazines. Sarah received a B.A., major in Economics, from the  University of Toronto.
