Abstract

Businesses and investors turn to their local Economic Development Professional (EDP) in search of business opportunities. However, seeking the right opportunity is expensive and time consuming in today’s highly unstructured marketplace. This article presents the necessity in today’s market for an “Opportunities Database” that connects local, regional, provincial and national opportunities through an integrated information database. The author lists down the fundamental elements and the respective operating costs, which will be the framework to create the network of all business opportunities in Canada. Moreover, the database should be supported by a self-sustaining publication. The article highlights the importance of such publication as it not only publishes available opportunities and how to list and access such opportunities but also generates revenue for the daily operations of the database.
