Abstract

Effective local and regional economic planning have been accomplished by development professionals through a concept known as industry clustering. The benefits of industry clustering are that firms are able to capture economic benefits that ultimately spill over into the community at large. This initiative can lead to new capabilities and economic growth in the community. The article focuses on the Regional Economic Study competed by the PricewaterhouseCoopers on behalf of the University of Waterloo (UW) and their positive community impact.
